Product Description

Syngenta Actara is a highly effective, second-generation neonicotinoid systemic insecticide designed to control a broad spectrum of sucking and select chewing pests. It is powered by the active ingredient Thiamethoxam 25% WG (Water Dispersible Granules).

Actara is rapidly absorbed by plant tissues and translocated throughout the plant (systemic action), protecting both existing foliage and new growing shoots.

Key Features & Benefits

  • Fast Knockdown: It disrupts the central nervous system of insects, causing them to stop feeding rapidly and eliminating them within 24 hours of application.

  • Long-Lasting Residual Protection: Provides extended control, reducing the frequency of sprays.

  • Dual Action: Works through both systemic (stomach) and contact action.

  • Application Flexibility: Can be used as a foliar spray or via soil drenching.

Actara is registered for use across a variety of field crops, vegetables, and fruits. Below is the standard recommended dosage chart per acre based on official guidelines:

General Dosage Guide for Small-Scale Spraying:

  • For standard hand-held or knapsack sprays, use 0.25 to 0.5 grams of Actara per 1 liter of water (roughly 3 to 6 grams per 15-liter spray pump).

Application & Safety Best Practices

  • Timing: Apply as soon as pest infestation is first spotted. To protect pollinators like honeybees, spray during the early morning or late afternoon when bees are less active.

  • Weather: Avoid spraying on windy days to prevent chemical drift, or right before rainfall to prevent the product from washing away.

  • Safety Gear: Always wear protective gloves, masks, and long sleeves during preparation and application. Avoid eating, drinking, or smoking while handling the product.
