Bayer Adora is a selective, systemic early post-emergence herbicide. Its active ingredient is Bispyribac Sodium 10% SC (Suspension Concentrate).

It works by inhibiting the acetolactate synthase (ALS) enzyme in target weeds, halting their cell division and growth. It is primarily recognized and officially registered as a specialized herbicide for Rice (Paddy)—covering nurseries, transplanted rice, and direct-seeded rice—to safely eliminate stubborn grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds without harming the crop. (Note: Unlike insecticides or general fungicides, Bispyribac Sodium formulations are selective and primarily labeled for rice cultivation systems rather than broad-spectrum fruit or vegetable usage).

Key Benefits of Bayer Adora

  • Broad-Spectrum Weed Control: Highly effective on major paddy weeds like Echinochloa spp. (Grasses), Cyperus spp. (Sedges), and various broadleaf weeds.

  • Systemic Foliar & Root Absorption: Quickly taken up by weed foliage and roots, destroying the weed from inside.

  • High Crop Selectivity: Features rapid degradation pathways inside rice plants, ensuring complete crop safety when applied at recommended stages.

  • Low Dosage Requirement: Highly cost-effective and efficient at minimal volume quantities per acre.

Crop-Wise Dosage and Usage Table

While primarily formulated and officially labeled for Rice / Paddy across different planting methods, standard usage guidelines include:

Crop / Field System

Specific Growth Stage / Condition

Target Weeds

Dosage per Acre

Dosage per 15L Pump

Rice Nursery

10 to 12 days after sowing

Grasses, Sedges, Broadleaf Weeds

80 ml – 100 ml

10 ml – 12 ml

Transplanted Rice

10 to 14 days after transplanting (3–4 leaf stage of weeds)

Grasses, Sedges, Broadleaf Weeds

80 ml – 120 ml

10 ml – 15 ml

Direct-Seeded Rice (DSR)

15 to 25 days after sowing

Grasses, Sedges, Broadleaf Weeds

100 ml – 120 ml

12 ml – 15 ml

Critical Field Rule: Drain standing water out of the rice field before spraying so that the weed foliage is fully exposed. Refill the field with water 2 to 3 days after application and maintain a 3 to 4 cm water level for at least 10 days.

Best Time to Spray

  • Weed Stage: Apply when weeds have actively emerged and are ideally in the 2 to 4-leaf stage. Do not wait until weeds grow large or woody.

    Agrisevak

  • Time of Day: Spray during clear weather in the morning or evening. Avoid application during high winds or extreme heat.

  • Rain Safety: Do not spray if rainfall is forecasted within 4 to 6 hours. Never apply using a sand-mix technique; use a flat-fan or flood-jet nozzle with clean water for uniform spray coverage.

Safety Precautions

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear safety gloves, a face mask, protective clothing, and eye protection while mixing and applying the product.

  • Avoid Tank-Mix Errors: Do not mix Adora with copper-based fungicides or sulfur products unless explicitly cleared by product guidelines

  • Safe Storage: Keep the container tightly closed in its original packing, stored away from food items, children, and domestic animals.

  • Environmental Protection: Do not allow spray drift to contact neighboring non-target crops or local aquaculture/fish ponds.

  • Hygiene: Wash hands, face, and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after completing the spray operation.
