Bayer Aliette (commonly written as Aliette) is a unique, world-renowned true systemic fungicide. Its active ingredient is Fosetyl-Aluminium 80% WP (Wettable Powder).
Unlike conventional fungicides that stay on the plant surface, Alitte possesses a distinct two-way systemic movement (both acropetal upward to leaves and basipetal downward to roots). Once absorbed, it not only directly attacks Oomycete fungi (such as those causing downy mildew, rot, and damping-off) but also stimulates the plant’s own natural defense mechanisms (phytoalexin production).
Key Benefits of Bayer Alitte
True Two-Way Systemic Action: Moves freely through the plant's vascular system to protect new growth from the roots up to the canopy.
Stimulates Natural Immunity: Triggers the plant's internal biochemical defense response against invading pathogens.
Rapid Absorption: Quickly absorbed by foliage or roots (rain-fast within about an hour of application).
Effective Disease Management: Highly specialized in controlling stubborn Oomycete diseases like Downy Mildew, Phytophthora root rots, and capsule rots.
Crop-Wise Dosage and Usage Table
While officially labeled for specific high-value crops like grapes and cardamom, Alitte is widely utilized across horticulture, fruit orchards, and vegetable systems for managing root rots and downy mildews:
Crop Category | Specific Crops | Target Diseases | Dosage per Liter | Dosage per 15L Pump | Dosage per Acre |
Commercial / Plantation Crops | Cardamom | Azhukal Disease (Capsule Rot), Damping-Off | 2.0 g | 30 g | 400 g |
Fruits & Horticulture | Grapes | Downy Mildew | 2.0 g | 30 g | 400 g |
Fruits & Orchards (General / Citrus / Apple) | Citrus, Pome Fruits, Papaya | Foot Rot, Root Rot, Collar Rot, Phytophthora diseases | 2.5 g | 37.5 g | 500 g (as drench/spray) |
Vegetable Crops | Cucurbits, Tomatoes, Chillies | Downy Mildew, Damping-Off, Phytophthora blight | 2.0 g – 2.5 g | 30 g – 37.5 g | 400 g – 500 g |
Note: For best results when mixing, pre-mix the wettable powder in a small amount of water to form a smooth paste before pouring it into the main spray tank.
Best Time to Spray
Preventive Schedule: Best applied proactively before disease symptoms appear or at the very onset of favorable humid/rainy weather conditions. For grapes, start applications early around the 3 to 5 leaf stage after pruning.
Time of Day: Spray during the early morning or late evening hours under calm weather conditions. Avoid application under scorching midday heat.
Rain Safety: Ensure no immediate heavy downpour is expected for at least 1 to 2 hours post-application to allow proper systemic uptake.
Safety Precautions
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear rubber gloves, protective goggles, a face mask, and full-body clothing while preparing and applying the mixture.
Tank-Mixing Caution: Do not mix Alitte with foliar fertilizers containing nitrogen (especially urea) or copper-based compounds, as this can cause leaf scorching or chemical reactions.
Storage Security: Store the product tightly sealed in its original container in a cool, dry place away from food, animal feed, and children.
Environmental Safety: Do not contaminate streams, ponds, or drainage channels with chemical residues or container wash water.
Post-Application Hygiene: Wash hands, face, and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water right after finishing the task.
