FMC Brigade Power is a broad-spectrum, multi-action acaricide and insecticide formulated as a Suspo-Emulsion (SE). It combines the specialized contact and residual miticide Propargite (50%) with the synthetic pyrethroid Bifenthrin (5%), delivering rapid knockdown and extended control against both phytophagous mites and sucking/chewing insect pests.
Technical Profile & Mode of Action
Propargite 50%: Acts primarily as a contact and fumigant miticide. It inhibits mitochondrial ATP synthesis, shutting down the energy metabolism of mites across motile stages (larvae, nymphs, adults) with lasting residual coverage.
Bifenthrin 5%: Acts on the insect nervous system by keeping voltage-gated sodium channels open, resulting in rapid paralysis and quick knockdown. It provides strong contact and stomach action against mites, lepidopteran larvae, and sucking insects.
SE Formulation (Suspo-Emulsion): Combines solid active particles suspended in an aqueous phase with an emulsion of an organic liquid, offering high leaf adherence, rainfastness, and low phytotoxicity risk compared to traditional solvent-heavy EC formulations.
Key Crop Usages, Target Pests & Dosage
Crop Category | Representative Crops | Target Pests | Dosage per Litre of Water | Dosage per Acre (in 150–200 L Water) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Commercial Crops | Cotton, Tea, Sugarcane | Red spider mite, two-spotted spider mite, pink/purple mite, bollworms, whitefly nymphs | 2.0 – 2.5 ml | 400 – 500 ml |
Vegetable Crops | Chilli, Tomato, Brinjal, Okra, Cucurbits | Yellow mite, red spider mite, thrips, fruit borers, whitefly complex | 2.0 ml | 350 – 400 ml |
Fruit Crops | Grapes, Pomegranate, Apple, Citrus | Two-spotted mite, European red mite, rust mite, thrips, leafhoppers | 2.0 – 2.5 ml | 400 – 500 ml |
Horticulture & Floriculture | Rose, Carnation, Marigold, Polyhouse greens | Bud mite, red spider mite, aphids, caterpillars | 1.5 – 2.0 ml | 300 – 400 ml |
Optimal Spray Timing
Early Infestation: Spray at the very first sign of mite colonization or pest appearance (e.g., leaf bronzing, stippling, fine webbing on the lower leaf surface).
Time of Day: Apply during the early morning (before 9:00 AM) or late afternoon/evening (after 4:30 PM). Avoid hot midday sun to minimize evaporation and prevent scorch on tender foliage.
Under-Leaf Coverage: Mites inhabit the undersides of leaves. Use hollow-cone nozzles and ensure high-pressure coverage thoroughly wetting both upper and lower leaf canopies.
Weather Conditions: Avoid spraying during strong winds, direct peak rainfall, or when rain is expected within 2 to 3 hours of application.
Safety Precautions & Handling
Personal Protective Equipmnt (PPE): Always wear chemical-resistant gloves, a face shield or safety goggles, a protective apron, and a particulate respirator during mixing and application.
Mixing Protocol: Shake the container well before measuring. Pre-mix the required quantity in a small bucket of clean water before transferring it into the main sprayer tank. Never prepare slurry with bare hands.
Environmental Safety: Bifenthrin is toxic to aquatic organisms and bees. Avoid spraying near open water bodies, fish ponds, or during peak honeybee foraging hours on flowering blooms.
Waiting Period (Pre-Harvest Interval): Observe a minimum safety interval of 7 to 14 days (depending on the specific crop schedule) before harvesting fresh produce.
Storage & Disposal: Store in the original sealed container in a cool, dry, ventilated area away from food, animal feed, and children. Rinse empty containers three times into the spray tank and dispose of them according to local hazardous packaging disposal regulations
