₹1522.00₹1250.00

Syngenta Calaris Xtra is an advanced, next-generation, pre-mix post-emergence herbicide engineered primarily for broad-spectrum weed management. Powered by Syngenta’s Callisto Technology, it is specifically designed to eliminate early weed competition, ensuring crops receive maximum nutrients, sunlight, and water during their critical growth phases.

Technical Overview

  • Active Ingredients: Mesotrione (2.27%) + Atrazine (22.7%) SC.

  • Formulation: SC (Suspension Concentrate), an advanced liquid formula that is gentle on both crops and spraying equipment compared to older EC-based chemical options.

  • Mode of Action (Dual-Power Synergy):

    • Mesotrione (HPPD Inhibitor / The Bleacher): Inhibits carotenoid biosynthesis in the weed. It acts as a "blinder," removing the weed's protective pigment defense. Sunlight then destroys the weed's chlorophyll, turning the leaves white.

    • Atrazine (PSII Inhibitor / The Burner): Blocks photosynthesis and creates toxic compounds inside the weed cells, causing rapid membrane destruction.

    • The Synergy: Mesotrione strips away the weed's defense shield, allowing Atrazine to deliver a fast, devastating knockout punch.

Key Benefits

  • Visible Knockdown & Extended Residual Control: Weeds begin bleaching within 3–5 days. The formulation remains active in the soil, preventing subsequent flushes of weeds from germinating for weeks.

  • Targets Resistant Weeds: The dual-action formula effectively controls hardy weeds that have built a resistance to older, single-molecule herbicides.

  • Excellent Rainfastness: Once applied, the spray is rain-safe within 4 to 6 hours.

Crop-Specific Uses & Dosages

Calaris Xtra is specifically registered for use in Maize (Corn) and Sugarcane. It controls both Monocot (annual grasses) and Dicot (broadleaf) weeds.

*Note on PHI: The Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI) specifies the safety window required between your final spray and harvesting the crop.

Application Best Practices

  • Ideal Timing: Timing is critical. Apply strictly at the 3 to 4 leaf stage of the weeds (typically 15–25 days after sowing). If weeds grow too tall (above 6 inches), the efficacy drops significantly.

  • Soil Moisture: Spray when there is optimum moisture in the soil to maximize systemic absorption and soil residual performance.

  • Nozzle Choice: Always use a Flat Fan or Flood Jet nozzle with a manual knapsack sprayer. Avoid using hollow cone nozzles, as they create a fine mist prone to wind drift.

  • Crop Safety Warning: While completely safe for maize and sugarcane when used as directed, do not spray if the crop has been treated with Organophosphate insecticides, as this can cause temporary crop injury.

Alternative Crop Application?

Because Calaris Xtra is a highly specialized selective herbicide formulated strictly for Maize and Sugarcane, do not use it on vegetables, pulses, or other broadleaf crops, as it will severely damage or destroy them.
