Tata Rallis Clue is a specialized, selective systemic insecticide formulated as Pymetrozine 50% WG (Water-Dispersible Granules). Belonging to the pyridine azomethine chemical class (IRAC Group 9B), it acts as a selective chordotonal organ TRPV channel modulator designed specifically to control destructive sap-sucking hemipteran pests.

Mode of Action: Immediate Anti-Feeding Effect

  • Neuromuscular Block of Stylet Function: Pymetrozine targets the stretch receptor organs (chordotonal organs) that govern insect feeding mechanics. Within 1 to 2 hours of ingestion or contact, the insect's salivary pump and stylets are irreversibly paralyzed.

  • Immediate Cessation of Damage: Even though the insect may remain physically attached to the plant for 2 to 4 days before dying of starvation, feeding ceases immediately, preventing sap loss and blocking the transmission of viral plant pathogens.

  • Acropeptal & Translaminar Systemicity: Moves rapidly into plant tissues through translaminar penetration and travels upward through xylem vessels, protecting newly emerging flush, shoots, and untreated foliage.

  • Selectivity & Natural Predator Safety: Highly selective toward piercing-sucking pests, sparing beneficial insects, predatory spiders, mirid bugs, and honeybees when applied as directed.

Optimal Spray Timing and Application Guidelines

  • Target Window: Apply at the economic threshold level (ETL) or at the very early appearance of hopper nymphs and aphid colonies (e.g., 5–10 hoppers per hill in paddy), before extensive hopper burn or secondary sooty mold sets in.

  • Direct Spray to the Canopy Base (Paddy): Plant hoppers shelter and feed at the base of the stems near the waterline. Adjust spray nozzles downward toward the lower third of the plant rather than only broadcasting over top foliage.

  • Water Management in Flooded Rice: Drain standing floodwater to roughly a thin mud layer prior to spraying so the chemical reaches tiller bases directly.

  • Time of Day: Spray during early morning (before 10:00 AM) or late evening (after 4:30 PM). Avoid peak afternoon heat and high winds to minimize droplet evaporation and drift.

  • Granule Dispersion: Being a WG formulation, prepare a pre-slurry in a bucket with 2–3 liters of clean water, stirring until granules are completely dispersed before pouring into the sprayer tank through a sieve.

Key Safety & Handling Precautions

  • Beneficial Insect & Pollinator Safety: While Pymetrozine has a favorable safety profile toward honeybees and beneficial predators compared to organophosphates and synthetic pyrethroids, avoid direct spraying during peak mid-day pollinator flight hours.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear chemical-resistant gloves, a particulate filtration mask, protective goggles, and full-length cotton clothing while handling and spraying.

  • Aquatic Caution: Toxic to aquatic invertebrates. Maintain a safe buffer zone from fish-farming ditches, irrigation canals, and community ponds. Do not clean sprayers or dispose of washings in natural water bodies.

  • Tank Mix Compatibility: Compatible with most conventional neutral insecticides and fungicides. Avoid mixing with strongly alkaline formulations (e.g., lime sulfur, Bordeaux mixture). Always run a 1-liter jar test before tank-mixing.
