Bayer Foost is a broad-spectrum, selective systemic herbicide formulated with Atrazine 50% WP (Wettable Powder). It belongs to the Triazine chemical class and functions primarily as a Photosystem II inhibitor.
Foost is engineered to target and eliminate a wide variety of early-season annual grasses and broadleaf weeds. It is rapidly absorbed by the roots and foliage of germinating weeds, disrupting their electron transport process and causing cellular starvation. By stopping weeds before they choke out young plants, it protects early crop establishment and secures higher yields.
Important Clarification on Crop Uses
Primary Registered Use: Officially, Bayer Foost (Atrazine 50% WP) is heavily labeled and registered for targeted use in Maize (Corn) and Sugarcane.

Note on Broad Crop Categories (Commercial, Vegetables, Fruits & Horticulture): It is not a general-purpose herbicide for all crops. Atrazine is a strong selective herbicide; applying it indiscriminately across general vegetable, fruit, or sensitive horticulture crops can cause severe crop damage and phytotoxicity. Always check specific local registration guidelines before application.
Crop Usage & Dosage Table
Crop Category / Name | Target Weeds | Application Timing | Recommended Dosage per Acre | Water Volume per Acre |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Maize (Corn) (Commercial / Cereal) | Trianthema monogyna, Digera arvensis, Echinochloa spp., Eleusine spp., and other annual grasses/broadleaf weeds | Pre-emergence (immediately after sowing) | 400 to 800 g / acre (depending on weed pressure) | 200 to 280 Liters |
Sugarcane (Commercial / Plantation) | Portulaca oleracea, Digitaria spp., Boerhavia diffusa, Euphorbia spp. | Pre-emergence (on weed-free moist soil) | 400 to 1600 g / acre (higher range for heavy soils/heavy weed load) | 200 to 280 Liters |
Other Fruits, Vegetables & Horticulture Crops | Not recommended or labeled for general use. | Avoid direct application. | Unsafe for broad horticulture use due to high risk of crop phytotoxicity. | N/A |
Best Time to Spray / Apply
Timing: For best results, apply Foost as a pre-emergence spray immediately after sowing the crop and before weeds emerge, or at a very early post-emergence stage when weeds have just germinated (2-3 leaf stage).

Soil Moisture Requirement: The soil must have sufficient moisture at the time of application for the herbicide to form an active chemical barrier in the top layer of the earth. Spraying on completely dry dust soils reduces efficacy.
Weather Conditions: Apply during calm morning or late afternoon hours. Avoid spraying during high winds to prevent drift onto adjacent sensitive fields.
Safety Precautions to be Taken
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear rubber gloves, protective face masks, safety goggles, long sleeves, and boots while mixing and spraying.
BigHaat
Avoid Drift: Ensure the spray pattern does not drift onto nearby sensitive crops, orchards, or vegetable beds, as Atrazine residue can injure non-target plants.
Handling Hygiene: Do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew tobacco while handling or spraying the chemical. Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water immediately afterward.
BigHaat
Equipment Care: Use flat-fan or flood-jet nozzles for uniform distribution. Thoroughly flush and clean your spray tank and equipment after use.
BigHaat
Environmental Protection: Do not wash spray equipment or dump chemical waste near ponds, wells, or slow-moving water sources, as it can affect aquatic environments.
Storage: Store the product in its original, tightly sealed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated, locked storage area, completely out of reach of children, livestock, and away from food or feed items.
