Adama Galigan is a selective, broad-spectrum diphenyl-ether herbicide containing Oxyfluorfen 23.5% EC. It works primarily as a pre-emergence and early post-emergence herbicide to control a wide variety of annual broadleaf weeds, selected grasses, and sedges.
Galigan forms a thin chemical film barrier on the soil surface. As emerging weed seedlings shoot through this barrier, they absorb the herbicide, which rapidly causes cell membrane breakdown upon exposure to light. It gives long-lasting, early-season protection to crops, keeping fields weed-free during critical early growth stages.
Key Features & Benefits
Dual Action: Acts as both a pre-emergence herbicide (preventing weed seed germination) and early post-emergence herbicide (killing young emerged weeds).·
Soil Barrier Protection: Forms a long-lasting chemical seal on top of the soil that stops fresh
weed flushes.
-Effective & Selective: Highly effective at lower dose rates with strong selectivity when applied to recommended crops at the correct timing.
Crop-Wise Dosage & Application Table
Crop Category | Target Weeds | Dosage per Acre | Recommended Spray Volume & Timing |
Commercial Crops
| Chenopodium, Amaranthus, Digera, Trianthema, Eragrostis, annual broadleaf weeds & grasses | 200 – 350 ml per acre | Pre-emergence: Apply within 0 to 3 days after sowing. Ensure good soil moisture. |
Vegetable Crops
| Broadleaf weeds like Portulaca, Chenopodium, Digitaria, and annual sedges | 150 – 250 ml per acre (or 1.5 to 2 ml per liter of water) | Onion/Garlic: Pre-transplanting (0–3 days before/after planting) OR post-emergence at 2–3 leaf stage of crop. |
Fruits & Horticulture Crops
| Annual broadleaf weeds, small grasses, and persistent orchard weeds | 300 – 400 ml per acre (or 2 to 3 ml per liter of water) | Directed Inter-Row Spray: Apply onto the soil/weeds in tree basins or row spaces. Avoid direct spray contact with green fruit foliage or young stems. |
Good Time to Spray
Pre-Emergence Timing: Apply immediately after sowing or transplanting before weeds begin to emerge from the soil.
Soil Moisture Required: Always spray when there is sufficient moisture in the soil. Moisture helps activate the herbicide and create an even chemical barrier.
Time of Day: Spray during the early morning or late afternoon when winds are calm to prevent spray drift onto non-target foliage.
Nozzle Selection: Use a Flat Fan or Flood Jet (Cut/Deflector) nozzle with 150 to 200 liters of water per acre to ensure uniform soil coverage.
