FMC Rhyme is an advanced, broad-spectrum systemic fungicide formulated as Flutriafol 23% w/w SC (Suspension Concentrate). Flutriafol is recognized as one of the most rapidly absorbed and highly mobile triazole chemistries available. Designed with both preventive and curative action, Rhyme rapidly moves through plant tissues via translaminar and acropetal (upward) xylem mobility, offering long-lasting residual protection against persistent fungal infections across commercial, vegetable, fruit, and horticultural crops.
Technical Profile & Mode of Action
Chemical Family: Triazole (FRAC Group 3 — Demethylation Inhibitor / DMI).
Active Ingredient: Flutriafol 23% w/w SC.
Mechanism: Blocks the C-14 demethylase enzyme in the fungal ergosterol biosynthesis pathway. Because ergosterol is the vital building block of fungal cell membranes, inhibiting it arrests fungal hyphae growth, prevents haustoria development, and stops spore germination, leading to pathogen death.
Rapid Systemic Movement: Rhyme enters leaf tissues within 2 hours of application (rainfast) and redistributes acropetally to protect newly emerging shoots and leaves from subsequent fungal attacks.
Crop Usage & Spectrum of Disease Control
Commercial & Field Crops (Wheat, Rice/Paddy, Soybean, Groundnut, Cotton):
Target Diseases: Yellow/brown rust in wheat, Tikka leaf spot and rust in groundnut, sheath blight in paddy, frog-eye leaf spot in soybean, and fungal leaf spots in cotton.
Benefits: Prevents premature defoliation, maintains green leaf canopy, and improves grain filling and pod weight.
Vegetable Crops (Chilli, Tomato, Potato, Cucurbits, Onion):
Target Diseases: Powdery mildew, anthracnose (dieback/fruit rot), early blight, target spot, and purple blotch.
Benefits: Protects flowers, leaves, and developing fruits, preventing unmarketable blemishes and fruit drop.
Fruit & Plantation Crops (Grapes, Banana, Mango, Pomegranate, Apple):
Target Diseases: Powdery mildew and black rot in grapes, Sigatoka leaf spot in banana, powdery mildew and anthracnose in mango, and scab/powdery mildew in pome fruits.
Benefits: Keeps bunches, skin, and rinds clean, improving produce grade and export quality.
Horticulture & Floriculture (Roses, Marigold, Carnation):
Target Diseases: Powdery mildew, black spot, and leaf blight.
Recommended Dosage & Mixing Chart
Application Scale | Recommended Dosage | Water Volume | Coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
Knapsack / Power Sprayer (Foliar) | 1.0 ml to 1.5 ml per liter of water (approx. 15–25 ml per 15–16 L pump) | Foliage dependent | Spot / Foliar |
Broad Field Foliar Spray | 150 ml to 250 ml per acre | 150 – 200 Liters of water | 1 Acre |
Drip / Chemigation (where labeled) | 200 ml to 300 ml per acre | Through irrigation cycle | 1 Acre |
Best Time to Spray
Application Window: Apply preventively at the earliest warning signs, during conditions favorable to disease development (high relative humidity, moderate temperatures, morning dew), or at the first visible appearance of fungal lesions/powdery patches.
Time of Day: Spray during the early morning (before 9:30 AM) or late afternoon (after 4:30 PM) to avoid rapid droplet evaporation from direct, harsh sunlight and maximize stomatal uptake.
Weather Factors: Ensure calm winds to avoid spray drift. Rhyme is typically rainfast within 2 hours of application. Avoid spraying if heavy rain is imminent within 2 hours.
Safety Precautions & Handling
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear chemical-resistant nitrile gloves, a face shield or mask, goggles, and protective full-sleeve clothing while measuring, mixing, and spraying.
Tank-Mix Protocol: Shake the bottle thoroughly before measuring to re-suspend any settled particles. Pre-dilute the measured dose in a bucket with 2–3 liters of clean water, then pour into the half-filled spray tank with the agitator running.
Compatibility: Rhyme is compatible with most standard neutral insecticides, micronutrients, and protectant fungicides (such as Mancozeb or Chlorothalonil) for resistance management. Avoid combining with strongly alkaline chemical mixtures (e.g., lime sulphur, Bordeaux mixture) without conducting a physical jar test.
