Rallis Rilon (Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG) – Product Overview

Rallis Rilon is a modern, high-efficacy insecticide belonging to the Avermectin group. Containing Emamectin Benzoate 5% SG (Soluble Granules), it is specifically designed to combat various species of caterpillars (Lepidoptera) that are often resistant to traditional chemicals. It is a "green" chemistry solution, meaning it is highly effective at very low dosages and has a favorable safety profile for many beneficial insects.

Key Features & Mode of Action

  • Translaminar Movement: Once sprayed, the insecticide penetrates the leaf tissue and forms a "reservoir" inside the leaf. This protects the product from being washed away by rain and kills pests that feed on the underside of the leaf.

  • Stomach & Contact Action: While it has some contact action, it is primarily a stomach poison. Once a caterpillar ingests the treated leaf, it stops feeding within hours and dies within 2–4 days.

  • Advanced SG Formulation: The Soluble Granule (SG) formulation is easy to handle, dissolves quickly in water without leaving residue, and does not create dust during mixing.

  • Nerve Impairment: It works by disrupting the chloride channels in the insect’s nervous system, leading to immediate paralysis.

Recommended Uses on Various Crops

Rilon is the "gold standard" for controlling various types of borers and caterpillars in field crops and vegetables.

Key Benefits

  1. Low Dosage, High Impact: One of the most powerful insecticides at very low concentrations, making it cost-effective and environmentally conscious.

  2. Instant Feeding Cessation: It prevents crop damage immediately after application because the pests stop eating almost instantly.

  3. Long Duration Control: Due to its translaminar properties, it provides protection for 10–15 days.

  4. IPM Compatible: It is relatively safe for many beneficial predatory insects and honeybees once the spray has dried, making it suitable for Integrated Pest Management.

Application & Safety Tips

  • Thorough Coverage: Since caterpillars often hide in the whorls or under leaves, use sufficient water (150–200 liters per acre) to ensure complete coverage.

  • Best Time to Spray: Apply in the evening or early morning. This is especially important for crops like Maize where Fall Armyworm is active at night.

  • Rotation: To prevent resistance, avoid using Emamectin Benzoate consecutively. Rotate with other chemistries like Patang (Tolfenpyrad) or Taffy (Bifenthrin).

  • Storage: Keep the product in a cool, dry place. Ensure the packet is tightly sealed after use to prevent the granules from absorbing moisture.

Safety Warning: Always wear gloves and a mask during mixing and application. Observe the Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI) as specified on the label to ensure produce is safe for consumption.
