Tata Rallis Rimbo is a selective, post-emergence broad-spectrum herbicide containing Tembotrione 34.4% SC (Suspension Concentrate). It belongs to the Triketone chemical class and functions as a 4-HPPD inhibitor (WSSA Group 27).
Once absorbed primarily by the green foliage and stems of weeds, it halts chlorophyll biosynthesis by blocking carotenoid production. Susceptible weeds exhibit distinctive rapid bleaching (turning stark white or yellow) within 2 to 4 days, followed by necrosis and complete weed collapse within 7 to 14 days.
Important Crop Selectivity Note
Unlike broad-spectrum insecticides, selective herbicides cannot be used across all crops.
Primary Registered Crop: Maize (Corn) — both field corn and sweet corn have natural physiological mechanisms to rapidly metabolize and detoxify Tembotrione, making it completely safe for the crop.
Strict Warning for Vegetables, Fruits & Broadleaf Crops: Do NOT spray over-the-top on vegetable crops, pulses, oilseeds, or commercial broadleaf crops (such as cotton or chilli). It will cause severe bleaching, phytotoxicity, and complete crop kill. In non-corn orchards or plantation rows, it should only ever be considered as a strictly directed, hooded spray that touches zero green bark, foliage, or suckers.
Crop Usage, Target Weeds & Dosage
To achieve maximum efficacy, Tembotrione must always be tank-mixed with a recommended non-ionic adjuvant / surfactant (e.g., methylated seed oil or ethylated surfactant at 400 ml/acre) to penetrate the waxy leaf cuticle of weeds.
Crop Category | Crop Name | Target Weeds Controlled | Dosage per Liter | Dosage per Acre | Water Volume |
Field / Commercial Crops | Maize (Corn) (Field corn, Sweet corn, Baby corn) | Grasses: Echinochloa colona, Dactyloctenium aegyptium, Digitaria sanguinalis, Brachiaria spp. Broadleaf: Trianthema portulacastrum, Amaranthus viridis, Digera arvensis, Cleome viscosa, Parthenium hysterophorus | 0.75 – 0.8 ml + 2.0 ml Adjuvant | 115 – 120 ml + 400 ml Adjuvant | 150 L |
Horticulture / Fruit Crops | Fruit Orchards (Mango, Citrus, Pomegranate) | Annual grasses and broadleaf weeds in orchard alleys | Strictly directed/hooded shield application only; avoid any contact with tree foliage, green wood, or low branches | 115 – 120 ml + 400 ml Adjuvant | 150 – 200 L |
Vegetables & Other Crops | Tomato, Chilli, Okra, Cotton, Soybean, Pulses | NOT RECOMMENDED (Highly susceptible; causes total crop death) | DO NOT SPRAY | — | — |
Best Time to Spray
Application Window: Apply strictly as an early post-emergence treatment when the maize crop is between 2 to 5 leaf stages (typically 15 to 25 days after sowing/emergence).
Weed Stage: Weeds should be young, actively growing, and at the 2 to 4 leaf stage for quick knockdown. Do not wait until weeds have matured or flowered.
Soil Moisture: Spray when there is adequate moisture in the soil. Never apply during severe drought stress, as dry conditions harden weed cuticles and slow herbicide translocation.
Daily Timing & Rainfastness: Apply during clear mornings or late afternoons on calm days. Rimbo delivers rapid leaf uptake and is generally rainfast within 1 to 2 hours after application.
Safety Precautions
Nozzle & Spray Equipment: Always use a flat fan nozzle or floodjet nozzle fitted with a spray shield. Maintain uniform nozzle height across the row to avoid overlapping or localized overdosing.
Drift Management: Do not spray during windy conditions. Even slight drift onto nearby fields of cotton, chilli, pulses, or vegetables will cause irreversible bleaching damage.
Tank Hygiene: Dedicate the knapsack sprayer to herbicides if possible, or thoroughly flush and wash the tank, pump, hose, and nozzles with clean water and detergent before using the same sprayer for insecticides or fungicides.
Personal Protective Gear (PPE): Wear chemical-resistant rubber gloves, a face mask, safety goggles, long trousers, and gumboots during measuring, mixing, and application.
