Alphamethrin 10% EC (also known as Alpha-cypermethrin 10% EC) is a highly active synthetic pyrethroid insecticide designed to deliver fast knockdown and strong contact and stomach toxicity against a wide range of chewing, boring, and sucking insect pests. Its high lipophilic property allows it to adhere firmly to plant foliage, providing long-lasting residual control.
Mode of Action
Alphamethrin acts directly on the voltage-gated sodium channels in the nerve membranes of insects. By keeping these sodium channels open, it causes repetitive nerve discharge, paralysis, rapid feeding stoppage, and insect mortality.

Key Benefits
Ultra-Fast Knockdown: Stops crop damage immediately by arresting pest feeding within minutes of contact.
Low Dosage Rate: Highly concentrated biological activity requiring minimal chemical volume per acre compared to older organophosphates.
Rainfast Adhesion: Strong wax-binding affinity prevents the chemical from easily washing away during light rains after drying.
Repellent Action: Creates an anti-feeding and repellent barrier that discourages secondary infestations.
Application & Mixing Instructions
Knapsack Sprayer (15–16 L tank): Add 8–10 ml of Alphamethrin 10% EC per tank of clean water.
Timing: Apply at the initial appearance of pest threshold levels or early larval instar stages for maximum efficacy.
Coverage: Use hollow cone nozzles to achieve fine droplet distribution over both upper and lower leaf surfaces.
Precautions & Safety Measures
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear chemical-resistant gloves, goggles, a face mask, and protective long-sleeve clothing during mixing and application.
Skin Irritation: Pyrethroids can cause temporary skin irritation or tingling (paraesthesia); wash exposed skin immediately with cold water and soap.
Bee & Aquatic Safety: Highly toxic to honeybees and fish. Avoid spraying during active daylight flowering hours, and never contaminate water sources, ponds, or irrigation canals.
Pre-Harvest Interval (PHI): Maintain a waiting period of 7 to 14 days (crop dependent) between the final spray and harvesting.
Storage & Antidote: Store in a locked, cool, and well-ventilated space away from children and livestock. There is no specific antidote; treat symptomatically under professional medical guidance.
