FMC Vayobel is a selective, pre-emergent herbicide formulated as granules (Beflubutamid 2.5% GR).
Important Note on Application and Crops: Unlike liquid sprays or multi-crop foliar pesticides, Vayobel is not a spray product and is not registered or suitable for general use across vegetables, fruits, or standard horticulture crops. Because of its granular formulation and specific chemical behavior requiring standing water, it is strictly formulated and approved for transplanted rice (paddy). Applying it to dryland vegetable beds, orchards, or horticultural nurseries can cause severe phytotoxicity (crop damage) or failure to activate

Mode of Action:
Once broadcast into standing water, the granules dissolve and settle on the soil surface, forming a protective barrier.
Emerging weed seedlings absorb the active ingredient through their roots and developing shoots.
Beflubutamid halts carotenoid synthesis (the protective pigments shielding plant chlorophyll from sunlight)
Without carotenoids, sunlight bleaches the emerging weeds white, leading to rapid tissue death before they establish.
Residual Window: Delivers 30 to 40 days of residual weed suppression during the critical crop-weed competition phase.

Application Timing & Water Management
Because Vayobel is a granular pre-emergent, success depends on soil water conditions rather than atmospheric spray windows:
Critical Window: Apply strictly between 0 to 3 days after transplanting (DAT). The field must be free of already-germinated, established weeds.
Water Level: Maintain 2 to 5 cm (1–2 inches) of standing water across the entire plot during application.
Water Retention: Lock the standing water for 3 to 5 days post-application. Do not drain the field or let high-flow irrigation flush through during this period, or the herbicide barrier will wash away.
Application Method: Mix 4 kg of granules thoroughly with 10–20 kg of dry sand or base fertilizer and broadcast uniformly across the field by hand.
Safety Precautions
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear chemical-resistant rubber gloves, full trousers, long-sleeved clothing, and protective eyewear while handling and broadcasting granules.
Skin Contact & Ingestion: Avoid skin contact with bare hands. Do not smoke, eat, or drink while handling the chemical. Wash hands, arms, and face thoroughly with soap and water after application.
Aquatic Toxicity: Beflubutamid is harmful to non-target aquatic organisms. Do not release treated field water into nearby fish ponds, natural streams, or aquaculture systems.
