Tata Rallis Velma 80 is a dual-active, premix insecticide formulated as Fipronil 40% + Imidacloprid 40% WG (Water Dispersible Granules). It pairs two distinct modes of action—a phenylpyrazole and a neonicotinoid—providing broad-spectrum contact, systemic, and ingestion action against chewing insects, borers, and sucking pests.
Technical Profile & Mode of Action
Active Ingredients: Fipronil 40% + Imidacloprid 40% WG.
Fipronil (40%): A phenylpyrazole insecticide acting on GABA-gated chloride channels in the central nervous system, disrupting nerve impulse transmission and causing hyperexcitation, paralysis, and pest mortality through contact and ingestion.
Imidacloprid (40%): A systemic neonicotinoid acting as an agonist on nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR), blocking nerve signal transmission, delivering acropetal systemic protection throughout foliage.
Synergistic Dual Action: The combined formula attacks the pest nervous system at two distinct receptor sites, helping overcome resistance developed against single-molecule insecticides while maintaining long residual control (up to 15–20 days).
Phytotonic Effect: Fipronil imparts a proven greening effect on treated crops, stimulating root development, tillering, and general vegetative vigor.

Optimal Spray Timing
Target Pest Stage: Spray at the very first visual detection of sucking nymphs (especially thrips in chilli or leafhoppers in cotton/paddy) or upon reaching the Economic Threshold Level (ETL).
Time of Day: Apply in the early morning (before 9:00 AM) or late afternoon/evening (after 4:30 PM) to avoid extreme heat and intense sunlight, which cause droplet evaporation and chemical degradation.
Canopy Coverage: Use a knapsack sprayer fitted with a hollow-cone nozzle. Ensure thorough coverage of both the upper and lower surfaces of leaves where thrips and whiteflies shelter.
