FMC Velzo is a specialized, modern broad-spectrum fungicide formulated as low-dust Water Dispersible Granules (66% WG) containing Valifenalate 6% + Mancozeb 60% WG. Designed primarily to combat notorious Oomycete plant pathogens, it merges systemic/translaminar technology with a multi-site contact shield. It provides preventive, curative, and antisporulant control against destructive diseases such as Downy Mildew and Late Blight.
Dual Mode of Action
Valifenalate (6% w/w) – FRAC Group 40 (Carboxylic Acid Amides - CAA): Penetrates leaf tissue rapidly with strong translaminar and localized systemic movement. It inhibits cellulose synthase enzymes required for fungal cell wall biosynthesis. It arrests mycelial growth inside the plant tissue and prevents the pathogen from sporulating (curative and antisporulant action).
Mancozeb (60% w/w) – FRAC Group M03 (Dithiocarbamates): Provides a robust multi-site contact protective shield on the leaf surface. It disrupts multiple biochemical steps (cellular respiration, enzyme activity) within fungal spores to stop germination completely upon contact. Because it contains Zinc (Zn) and Manganese (Mn), it also imparts a healthy crop greening effect.
Anti-Resistance Partner: Combining a single-site CAA systemic with a broad multi-site protectant ensures zero cross-resistance with older phenylamide fungicides (like metalaxyl).

Best Time and Conditions to Spray
Vulnerable Crop Stages:
In Grapes: Highly recommended during the critical Ponga stage (3 to 5 leaf stage after pruning) and pre-bloom stages to safeguard tender new foliage from early downy mildew infection.
In Vegetables (Tomato/Potato/Cucurbits): Apply at canopy closure or at the very onset of cool, overcast, humid weather before visible blight lesions spread.
Weather Timing: Apply in the early morning (7:00 AM – 10:00 AM) or late evening (after 4:30 PM). Avoid high midday temperatures to prevent rapid droplet drying.
Rainfastness: The WG formulation binds securely with leaf wax cuticles, offering good wash-off resistance once dried for 2 to 3 hours.
Targeted Coverage: Downy mildew and blight pathogens germinate on the underside of leaves; ensure full canopy coverage using a fine hollow cone nozzle.
Safety Precautions and Handling
Slurry Preparation: Being a WG (Wettable Granule), first dissolve the required quantity in a small bucket of water to form a uniform lump-free slurry, then add it to the sprayer tank with continuous agitation.
Personal Protection (PPE): Wear chemical-resistant gloves, a particulate mask, and safety goggles while handling granules and preparing the spray solution. Avoid direct skin contact or inhaling spray mist.
Special Caution: Pregnant women must avoid exposure or application of Mancozeb-containing formulations.
