Adama Weedblock is a selective, systemic herbicide formulated with Imazethapyr 10% SL (Soluble Liquid). It belongs to the imidazolinone chemical family and works by inhibiting the ALS (acetolactate synthase) enzyme in target weeds, which stops amino acid synthesis and halts their growth. It provides both foliar and residual soil activity, meaning it clears existing weeds while suppressing subsequent weed germination.
Active Ingredient & Mode of Action
Imazethapyr (10% SL): Absorbed primarily through the foliage and roots, it translocates systemically throughout the weed to eliminate grasses, sedges, and broadleaf weeds.
Selectivity: Highly selective for designated legume and pulse crops, meaning it destroys unwanted weeds without harming the primary crop
Crop-Wise Uses and Dosage
Note: Imazethapyr 10% SL is primarily registered and safe for use in specific broadleaf/legume crops (such as soybeans, groundnuts, and pulses). It is not a universal herbicide for all crops (such as sensitive fruits, vegetables, or horticulture crops, where it can cause phytotoxicity). Always confirm crop compatibility before application.
Crop Category | Target Weeds | Recommended Dosage (per Acre) |
Legumes / Pulses (Soybean, Groundnut, Peas, Lentils) | Annual grassy weeds, broadleaf weeds, and sedges | 250 ml to 400 ml (mixed in 150–200 liters of water) |
Best Time to Spray
Weed Growth Stage: Best applied during the early post-emergence stage (when weeds are small, typically at the 2 to 4-leaf stage).
Crop Stage / Soil Moisture: Apply 7 to 14 days after sowing (DAS) when adequate moisture is present in the soil. Spraying on moist soil enhances the residual soil-acting control.
Weather Conditions: Spray during calm weather in the early morning or late evening. Avoid application during high winds or if rainfall is expected shortly after.
Safety Precautions
Safety First: Handle selective herbicides with caution to avoid skin exposure and drift onto sensitive non-target crops.
Protective Equipment: Wear chemical-resistant gloves, a face mask/respirator, safety goggles, and full protective clothing during preparation and spraying.
Avoid Drift: Ensure the spray pattern does not drift toward neighboring vegetable gardens, fruit orchards, or horticulture crops, as Imazethapyr can damage non-target plants.
Hygiene Practices: Do not eat, drink, or smoke while handling the product. Wash hands and exposed skin thoroughly with soap and water after application.
Storage & Disposal: Store the container tightly sealed in its original packaging, away from food, animal feed, and direct sunlight, and out of reach of children.
