Tata Rallis Zygant is a high-performance granular insecticide containing Flubendiamide 0.7% GR. Designed specifically for soil application and broadcasting, it provides prolonged systemic protection against destructive lepidopteran caterpillars, stem borers, and leaf folders right from the early crop growth stages.
Technical Profile & Mode of Action
Active Ingredient: Flubendiamide 0.7% GR (Granules)
Chemical Class: Diamide / Ryanodine receptor modulator (IRAC Group 28)
Mode of Action: Targets and activates intracellular ryanodine receptors, causing an uncontrolled, continuous release of calcium ions from internal stores within the insect's muscle cells. This leads to immediate muscle paralysis, cessation of feeding, regurgitation, and death of the larvae.
Root Uptake & Acropetal Movement: Formulated as sand-core or carrier granules, the active chemical dissolves into soil moisture, is absorbed by the root system, and moves upward through the xylem tissue. This internal shield poisons chewing caterpillars boring inside stems, shoots, or rolled leaves.
Residual Protection: Provides extended systemic control for 20 to 30 days, keeping young tillers and vegetative shoots protected during critical vegetative development.
Crop Application, Target Pests & Dosage Chart
Because Zygant is a granular formulation (GR), it is applied by broadcasting or soil placement/side-dressing, rather than liquid foliar spraying.
Crop Category | Crops | Target Pests Controlled | Recommended Dosage (per Acre) | Application Method |
Cereal Crops | Paddy (Rice) | Yellow Stem Borer (Scirpophaga incertulas), Leaf Folder (Cnaphalocrocis medinalis) | 4.0 – 5.0 kg / acre | Broadcast evenly in standing water (2–3 inches depth) |
Commercial Crops | Sugarcane | Early Shoot Borer, Top Borer, Stalk Borer | 5.0 – 6.0 kg / acre | Soil application along furrows near root zone at planting or earthing-up |
Commercial Crops | Maize (Corn) | Fall Armyworm (Spodoptera frugiperda), Stem Borer | 4.0 – 5.0 kg / acre | Whorl application or soil side-dressing near plant base |
Vegetable Crops | Tomato, Brinjal, Cabbage, Cauliflower | Fruit and Shoot Borer, Diamondback Moth (DBM), Cutworms | 4.0 – 5.0 kg / acre | Soil application near the root zone / bed dressing after transplanting |
Fruit & Plantation Crops | Banana, Pomegranate, Papaya | Rhizome Weevil larvae, Stem Borers, Cutworms | 10 – 15 g per plant / pit | Ring application around root basin mixed into topsoil |
Optimal Application Timing & Soil Conditions
Paddy Application Window: Apply between 15 to 25 days after transplanting (DAT) or at the early tillering stage. This coincides with the peak egg-hatching and early larval entry window for stem borers, preventing "dead hearts."
Moisture Requirement: Soil moisture is essential. In paddy, maintain standing water (2 to 3 inches) for at least 48 to 72 hours after broadcasting so the granules dissolve and roots absorb the active ingredient.
Sugarcane & Vegetables: Apply during final field preparation, sett sowing, or at first earthing-up (30–45 days), followed immediately by light irrigation.
Mixing Guidelines: For uniform field distribution, mix the recommended 4–5 kg of Zygant granules with dry sand, well-decomposed FYM, or non-alkaline fertilizer (such as DAP or Urea) before broadcasting.
Safety Precautions & Handling
Personal Protection (PPE): Wear impermeable gloves, closed footwear, and a dust mask while broadcasting. Do not broadcast bare-handed.
Water Management in Paddy: Keep field bunds intact to avoid water runoff into adjacent natural waterways or fish ponds for at least 4–5 days following application.
Safe Handling: Do not eat, drink, smoke, or chew tobacco during application. Thoroughly wash hands, arms, and face with soap and clean water after work.
